Fighting for Fair Housing in the Metro and Across Colorado

The Denver Metro Fair Housing Center (DMFHC) is a nonprofit organization working to eliminate housing discrimination and promote equal opportunity throughout the metro area. Through education, outreach, advocacy, and enforcement of fair housing laws, we empower individuals, support inclusive communities, and hold housing providers accountable. Since 2012, we’ve partnered with local residents, organizations, and agencies to make fair housing a reality for all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn More, Do More

Housing discrimination is when someone is treated unfairly in renting, buying, or financing a home because of their race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or family status. Read More here>>

There are several ways you can get involved!

  • Staying informed and spreading awareness: Learn your rights under the Fair Housing Act and share them through your networks. DMFHC holds trainings, workshops, and outreach events for both tenants and landlords.

  • Reporting discrimination: If you witness or suspect unfair treatment, report it to DMFHC. We investigate and enforce compliance.

  • Joining as a fair housing tester: Contribute directly by volunteering to test housing providers to uncover biases and help build legal cases .

  • Supporting DMFHC: Donate, advocate for stronger fair housing policies

If you witness or suspect unfair treatment, report it to DMFHC. We investigate and enforce compliance.

We work with tenants, homeowners, and home seekers, as well as housing professionals, companies, and social service agencies. This includes landlords, realtors, lenders, insurance agents, and more.

Complaint-Based Investigations

If you believe you’ve been discriminated against in housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, disability, age, marital status, or family status, contact us. We investigate individual complaints and can help.

Systemic Investigations

Many forms of discrimination go unnoticed. We conduct undercover investigations to expose hidden patterns — like steering or unequal loan offers — that impact entire communities. Our findings can lead to legal action and community reform.

Our Vision:

The DMFHC recognizes the importance of “home” as a component of the American dream and envisions a state and country free of housing discrimination where every individual, group, and community in Metro Denver enjoys equal housing opportunity and access in a bias free and open housing market where integrated neighborhoods are the norm, and the private and public sector guarantees civil rights in an open and barrier free community.

Our Mission

The DMFHC is dedicated to eliminating housing discrimination and promoting housing choice for all people through education, advocacy, and enforcement of fair housing law.
